It is becoming increasingly evident that wind energy plays a key role in the global energy landscape, and this trend is reinforced with the release of a new episode of «Ondas del Viento», recorded directly at the annual WindEurope fair in Copenhagen. In this edition, Juan Virgilio Márquez, CEO of AEE, offers crucial insights into the challenges facing the wind industry and innovative solutions to boost Europe’s competitiveness.
In this episode, Márquez highlighted key issues for the sector’s future. He emphasized the need for policies that encourage investment in new wind technologies, stressed the importance of simplifying project certification processes, and underlined the value of public-private collaboration to achieve decarbonization goals. According to Márquez, “wind energy has the potential to be the backbone of a sustainable energy system, but we need a regulatory framework that fosters innovation and ensures investment profitability.” Topics such as floating offshore wind turbines and their hybridization with green hydrogen were also central, sparking a debate on how wind power can become a vector for clean fuel production.
This effort to spread knowledge about wind energy aligns directly with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. SDG 7 aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. Wind power, as a renewable source with low operating costs, plays a crucial role. It also contributes to SDG 13, which urges immediate action to combat climate change and its effects by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We invite you to reflect on the role each of us can play in the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. How can we promote the adoption of renewable energy and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations?
