In July, photovoltaic solar energy represented 24% of electricity generation in Spain, marking a historic high. Renewables collectively reached 55.3% of the total, with 77.2% of electricity free of CO2 emissions.

For the third consecutive month, photovoltaic solar energy has led the electricity generation mix in Spain, reaching 24% of the total.

In July, renewables generated 13,460 GWh, 23.2% more than the same month last year. Photovoltaic solar produced 5,840 GWh, 27.7% more than in July 2023, setting a new monthly production record. Additionally, on July 12, photovoltaic solar achieved its highest daily production with 211 GWh, representing 25.1% of the day’s generation.

The leadership of photovoltaic solar was consolidated with a 24% share in July, followed by nuclear energy (20.8%) and wind energy (17.4%).

Spain continues to advance in the energy transition. This progress not only reduces CO2 emissions but also strengthens the country’s energy security, demonstrating the potential of renewables to transform the national electricity system.
