In October 2024, wind energy became the primary source of electricity generation in Spain, reaching 26.3% of the total national output. This leadership role of wind energy underscores its key role in the country’s power supply, with a significant contribution to the growth of renewable generation.
Renewables as a whole increased their production by 15.4% compared to October 2023, representing 55.9% of the monthly energy mix. Furthermore, 78.1% of the electricity produced in October was CO₂ emissions-free, marking progress toward a cleaner energy matrix.
On the mainland, wind energy also led with 27.2% of the production, closely followed by nuclear and hydroelectric sources. The increase in emission-free generation reached 81.7% in this region, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and reducing pollutant emissions.
