From October 16 to 18, the China Wind Power 2024 fair was held in Beijing, a significant event in the wind energy sector where 27 new wind turbine models were introduced by 12 prominent Chinese manufacturers. This event reflects the ongoing expansion of wind energy in China, a country that installed 66% of the global wind power capacity in 2023, reaching a milestone of 500 GW installed capacity, nearly half of the world’s wind energy capacity.
Among the models presented, the Goldwind GWH300-20 with 25 MW and the CSSC Haizhuang H305-25MW stand out, designed for higher power and efficiency. An interesting innovation is the Goldwind GWH204-4-4.55 MW model, optimized to operate in low winds of just 4.5-5 m/s, with a power density of 122 kW/m², offering new opportunities in low-wind areas.
In addition to new models, the event announced a “self-discipline pact” among Chinese manufacturers to avoid unfair price competition, and Mingyang’s entry into the Global Wind Organization (GWO) was highlighted. Sany also presented a new test bench for turbines up to 35 MW, and TUV Nord will certify Mingyang’s MySE18.X-260 model, enhancing its market credibility.
China Wind Power 2024 demonstrates China’s leadership in wind energy innovation and expansion, with technologies aimed at new levels of efficiency and adaptability across various wind conditions.
