What is LT?
Lift Training (LT) is the GWO standard safety training in the use of lifts in wind turbines. LT is designed for wind farm workers that must work in WTG environments, especially if they must use lifts or elevators, both in onshore and offshore facilities.

Permanent validity
Lift Training
The Lift Training standard currently consists of three modules dedicated to the standards of use of elevators in the industry, the safety procedures to follow before and after each use, the hazards of their use, as well as how to prevent them.
- Lift User module: course on the risks of using elevators inside wind turbines and how to mitigate them.
- Lift Commissioning and Inspection module: course on the risks present in elevator inspections and commissioning, and how to mitigate them.
- Lift Commissioning, Inspection, Installation and Maintenance module: course on the risks present in the commissioning, inspection, installation, and maintenance of elevators in wind turbines, how to mitigate them, and how to act in case of a dangerous situation.

Module Objectives
The Lift User module guarantees that once completed, participants will be able to:
- Use in a responsible, correct and safe manner a service lift within a wind turbine.
- Look for guidance in the use of lifts in WTGs on their own initiative, should it be necessary.
LU – Lift User
Lift user
Content: particpants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to correctly use a lift in a WTG. Participants will learn about the different guide systems and most common types of lifts in the sector. They will also be instructed about the steps to follow in the inspections before and after each use, and how to act in the event of an accident.
Duration: 4 hours
Validity: Permanent
Module Objectives
The Lift User module garantees that, once completed, participants will be able to:
- Use in a responsible, correct and safe manner a service lift withing a wind turbine. forma responsable, correcta y segura un elevador de servicio de un aerogenerador.
- Look for guidance in the use of lifts in WTGs on their own initiative, should it be necessary.

Module Objectives
The Lift Commission and Inspection module ensures that once completed, participants will be able to:
- Solve routine tasks in relation to the commissioning and inspection of lifts in a WTG following relevant guides and manuals.
LCI – Lift Commission and Inspection
Content: technicians will be able to inspect the lift after installation in a WTG with the purpose of commissioning; to take correct measures to acquire assistance, and perform simple adjustments or replacement of parts in a lift in a WTG.
Basic technical experience and knowledge, primarily mechanical and electrical, is necessary to be able to get full benefit from the training.

By definition, the BST has improved the alignment and quality of safety training because we now have a standard that delivers a baseline of competence. As an owner/operator of wind turbines, we wouldn’t allow anyone to work on site without the certification.
