Due to the strict coronavirus containment measures, GWO had already proposed a flexibility deadline for the extension of refresh courses until June 1, 2020. This deadline has been extended again until December 31, 2020.
GWO Safety Training normally has a validity period of 24 months. To maintain the validity of the training, a refresher course must be taken (refresher course). If the refresher training is completed during the last 60 days before the expiration date, the validity period will be extended 24 months. This remains in effect.
Participants who expire the validity of their training are usually not able to extend the validity through a refresher course, but are required to participate in an initial course to obtain a new certificate.
However, GWO has agreed to allow as a temporary measure until December 31, 2020 that:
1. Course participants who cannot refresh their training within the 24-month validity period will have the opportunity to attend the refresher course up to 60 days after the expiration date.
2. Training centers offering refresher courses to course participants under this exception should contact GWO for more specific instructions.
This measure does not mean that employers and providers are exempt from ensuring that workers have adequate safety competencies.
