Advanced Rescue Training

The Advanced Rescue Training (ART) course is the official GWO course for emergency rescues in wind turbines. ART certifies the acquisition of the theoretical and practical knowledge required to access and rescue an injured person from each of the different sections of a wind turbine.

The Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certification consists of four different courses, depending on the sections of the wind turbine where rescue operations will be carried out, and the type of wind installation.

ART H: Rescue techniques in hub, rotor, and blade interior.
ART N: Rescue techniques in nacelle, tower, and basement.
Single Rescuer – ART H: Rescue techniques in hub, rotor, and blade interior for a single rescuer.
Single Rescuer – ART N: Rescue techniques in nacelle, tower, and basement for a single rescuer.

ART courses can be taken together (Combined ART) or separately. There are also update courses, ART Refresh.

To be able to take any of the ART courses, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be in good physical and mental condition

You must have previously obtained and have valid the following certifications from GWO Basic Safety Training:

  • Module BST Working at Heights or Working at Heights Refresh module
  • Module BST First Aid or First Aid Refresh module
  • Module BST Manual Handling or Manual Handling Refresh module

  ART Modules

Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade Rescue (ART-H)

Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade Rescue

ART-H

The Advanced Rescue Training (ART-H) course certifies the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge required to access and rescue an injured person from each of the different sections of a wind turbine. ART-H enables students to perform rescue operations in the hub, spinner, and inside blade of a wind turbine. The rescue teams, methods, and techniques standardized in the wind industry are superior to those developed in the Working at Heights (WAH) module of the BST.

The course duration is 7 hours, and its validity is 24 months.

Nacelle, Tower & Basement Rescue (ART-N)

Nacelle, Tower & Basement Rescue

ART-N

This course trains students to perform rescue operations in the nacelle, tower, and basement environment of wind turbines. Industry-standard rescue equipment, methods, and techniques that are superior to those developed in the Working at Heights (WAH) module of BST are used.

The course has a duration of 14 hours (two days) and renews the official certification for 24 months.

Single Rescuer – Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade (SART-H)

Single Rescue – Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade

SART-H

This course trains students to perform rescue operations in the hub, rotor, and inside blade of wind turbines. Rescue equipment, methods, and techniques that have been standardized in the wind industry and are superior to those developed in the Working at Heights (WAH) module of the BST are used.

The course duration is 4 hours, and the certification is permanent.

Single Rescuer – Nacelle, Tower and Basement (SART-N)

Single Rescuer – Nacelle, Tower and Basement

SART-N

This course trains students to perform rescue operations in the nacelle, tower, and basement environment of wind turbines. Rescue equipment, methods, and techniques that have been standardized in the wind industry and are superior to those developed in the Working at Height (WAH) module of BST are used.

The course duration is 4 hours, and its validity is permanent.

Advanced Rescue Training Combined (ART C)

Advanced Rescue Training Combined

ART-C

This course combines the four previous modules.

The course has a duration of 21 hours (3 days) and its validity is 24 months.

Nacelle, Tower and Basement Refresh (ART-NR)

Nacelle, Tower and Basement Refresh

ART-NR

This course consists of updating the ART Nacelle, Tower, and Basement course and acquiring the certificates for the BST MHR and WAHR modules jointly.

The course has a duration of 14 hours (2 days) and its validity is 24 months.

Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Refresh (ART-HR)

Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Refresh

ART-HR

This course consists of updating the ART Hub, Rotor and Blade course, with which the certificates of the BST MHR, WAHR modules are acquired jointly.

The course has a duration of 7 hours (1 day) and its validity is 24 months.
