Q1 and Q2 of 2020 were full of difficulties for training providers
The first half of 2020 was challenging for GWO training providers. According to GWO Half Year Report, training volumes fell 15% compared to the same period in 2019.
For instance, March and April, which are traditionally busy months for safety training providers, saw only a meager 1000 courses in average per week, or less. In contrast, U¡usual numbers any other year put that number up to 5000 and even 6000 courses per week.
However, as soon as most countries eased their lockdown measures by the end of May, that number rose quickly. In June, most training providers were up 45% in comparison to the same month the previous year.
The sector recovered quickly after the lockdown measures were eased. Moreover, training providers responded even quicker by immediately developing their own digital solutions to the social distancing measures with virtual classrooms and with blended learning.
In conclusion, the introduction of virtual classrooms and blended learning provoked by COVID-19 lockdowns may impact forever the way the sector works.
